The music mogul met his wife in a bit of an unusual way.

Scooter Braun first laid on eyes on his future wife, Yael Cohen, while watching a video of a TED talk she gave about her organization “Fuck Cancer.” After watching the video, he “really wanted to meet her,” and so he contacted her.

Read on to learn more about how Scooter and Yael’s relationship blossomed.

Scouting for a wife?

In an interview for Hollywire, at a Fuck Cancer event, talent-scout Scooter was asked for details about how the pair met. He said, “I saw [a video of] her TEDx talk and I just really wanted to meet her.”

Scooter is referring to a video of Yael talking about her organization, made back in 2010.

Braun told the interviewer that the founding of Yael’s organization worked out “real well” for him. “This organization got me married. I got babies because of this organization,” he continued.

Scooter went on to praise his wife, proclaiming that “she’s the most empathetic human being I’ve ever met and, you know, I’m living with a superhero. I’m just trying to live up to that standard.”

Scooter’s interesting approach at meeting women from YouTube videos he’s browsing is not unlike the way he discovered pop-sensation Justin Bieber.

Scooter stumbled on the singer’s YouTube videos back in 2008 and tracked the teen singer down through his school.

Despite being an unusual way to approach a potential date, Yael was apparently smitten with her suitor since the couple ended up marrying just over a year after meeting.

Married Because of Ellen

When the couple was visiting friends, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, the hosts started encouraging their unmarried friends to spend more time in Montecito, where Ellen and her other half live.

Scooter told Architectural Digest that he explained to the celebrity couple, “We’re not going to buy a house,” and mentioned how they weren’t even married at the time.

“Then they took us out to lunch, and when we got back to their house afterward, there was a broker waiting for us. We said, ‘This is ridiculous! We’re not doing this,” Scott recalled.

“We saw two places, and we weren’t interested,” he remembered. Referring to one of his current homes, he said, “and then this was the third. As soon as we pulled into the driveway, between all those trees, we kind of instantly knew that we were going to buy it.”

Scott describes how the property has 100 years of growth on five acres and how he and Yael fell in love with the butterfly-shaped rose garden.

“We were like, Let’s get married here,” he revealed.

An Unlikely Bond

Scooter and Yael’s love story is certainly interesting. The professional talent-scout did what he does best and saw potential in the person he was watching on YouTube—although this potential was certainly of a different kind to usual.

Then, Ellen of all people was the catalyst that paired the couple in heavenly matrimony. The love story didn’t end there, since the couple seems smitten with their young boys: Levi and Jagger.
