Phil Lynott was an Irish singer, songwriter, musician, producer, and poet. He was the lead singer, bass guitarist, and acustic guitarist of the rock band Thin Lizzy.

Phil was born in West Bromwich, England. He was the illegitimate son of Philomena “Phyllis” Lynott, an author and entrepreneur, and Cecil Parris. Phil’s mother was Irish, while his father was African-Guyanese, from Georgetown.

Phil was raised in Dublin, Ireland, by his grandmother. He considered himself Irish.

Phil had three children, including two with his wife Caroline Crowther. Caroline was the daughter of comedian Leslie Crowther.

After Phil’s death, it was widely reported in the media that his father was Brazilian. This is not correct.

Phil’s maternal grandfather was named Frank Lynott (the son of Michael Charles Lynott).

Phil’s maternal grandmother was named Sarah Finn.
