Madonna made an appearance at the Women’s March in Washington yesterday (January 21st) to deliver a powerful speech to the hundreds of thousands who gathered in the nation’s capital.
Arriving on stage the singer asked the crowd “can you hear me?”
“Are you ready to shake up the world? Welcome to the revolution of love.”
Madonna then told marchers “to the rebellion, to our refusal as women to accept this new age of tyranny. Where not just women are in danger, but all marginalised people.”
“It took this horrific moment of darkness to wake us the fu*k up.” Madonna continued.
“It seems as though we all slipped into a false sense of comfort, that justice would prevail and that good would prevail in the end. Well, good did not win this election. But good will win in the end.”
“So what today means is that we are far from the end. Today marks the beginning; the beginning of our story. The revolution starts here.”
The singers words and message were met with cheers, applause and praise from the crowds.
And for those who say the Women’s March was pointless and a waste of time, the Living For Love singer had two words “fu*k you”.
“It is the beginning of much-needed change. Change that will require sacrifice, people… but this is the hallmark of revolution.”
Madonna ended her speech by encouraging demonstrators to chant “we chose love.”
The outspoken pop icon then went onto perform her hit songs Express Yourself and Human Nature.

The march in the US capital led an international day of action against Donald Trump’s administration in the name of women’s rights, which activists believe will be under threat from the actions of the new President.
Large-scale protests took place in major US cities, including Chicago, Los Angeles and New York, with similar demonstrations held across the world from London to Sydney, Paris to Oslo.
